300 Colored paper clips |

Instructional Sequence |
Use a grassy area and divide class into small groups. Give each 30 paper clips in different colors. Which color will be the easiest to see in the grass? Which will be the hardest? Have students make predictions. Have one group sprinkle paper clips on the grass and count 40 seconds while the other members pick up as many paper clips as they can. Have students record their findings. Discuss the results and have students talk about how camouflage can help animals survive |

Talk about the difficulty of finding the paper clips. Which colors were easier to find? Collect paper clips. Tick check before leaving |
