Materials and Resources

Owl pellet kits (owl pellets, dissection tools, bone chart)

Instructional Sequence

Inform students of how owl pellets are formed.  An information guide is in the owl pellet kit.  Instruct students to dissect their pellets very carefully with their tools b/c the bones are very small and fragile.  While extracting bones, students will use the bone chart to determine what kind of bones they are and what kind of animal they came from.  Students may use plastic bones to take home their bones.
