OCTOBER 2005: Officers Elected to Friends of Ballard Park
Board of Trustees


The Friends of Ballard Park recently held its Annual Meeting and elected several people to serve as officers. Carol C. Ballard, Jill Spear and Colleen McGrath were reelected to the offices of president, treasurer and secretary respectively. Melissa Narcizo was elected as vice president, a position most recently held by retiring board member Mary Hayes.

At the meeting the board of trustees also ratified the organization’s business for the past year including the election of Linda Lee Butler and Mary Ellen Grosvenor to the board of directors. Ms. Butler is an interior designer who lives in Newport with her husband and two children. Mrs. Grosvenor is a sales associate at Hogan + Stone who previously served as the director of stewardship for St. George’s School. She is a Meals on Wheels volunteer and also serves on the board of the Newport Art Museum, City Year and St. George’s School Parent’s Committee.

APRIL 2005: Two Appointed to Friends of Ballard Park
Board of Trustees


The Friends of Ballard Park is pleased to announce the
appointment of Meaghan O'Neill and Brian Kuchar to
its board of trustees.

Meaghan O'Neill is a journalist and outdoor enthusiast who lives
in Newport with her husband Kurt Edenbach. Having spent every summer of her childhood down on the rocks near First Beach, sailing on Narragansett Bay and exploring the coastal and inland areas between Easton's and Sachuest Points, she has a heartfelt respect for Aquidneck Island's natural resources. Recently, she helped launch TreeHugger.com, a web blog dedicated to sustainable contemporary design that's more hip than hippy.

Brian Kuchar is a registered landscape architect and associate engineer who works at Frisella Engineering, Inc. located in Wakefield, RI. He holds dual degrees in both Landscape Architecture and Civil Engineering and has over twelve years experience in both the design and engineering professions. He serves as an adjunct professor in the Landscape Architecture Department at the University of Rhode Island and is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, Rhode Island Wildplant Society and the Norman Bird Sanctuary.

a clean and usable area for people to enjoy on their own. The board oversees educational programs and activities such as bird and nature walks, concerts and the Annual Ballard Park Pumpkin Tour.
